Questions for Cayla
What inspired you to write?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve liked writing. But more importantly, I love telling stories. I enjoy the process of creating characters, defining their unique attributes, and formulating a plot. I fell in love with books at a very young age. My favourite book as a child was The Missing Piece by Shel Silverstein. There’s nothing that compares to the emotional journey of reading, and by writing I can create that experience for others.
What influences your work?
Lot’s of things influence my work. I can find inspiration in virtually anything, nature, the city, strangers I pass on the street, but the majority of my inspiration comes from the emotions evoked by TV shows, films, other books I’ve read, and music. Occasionally, even my personal life can influence my work and I’ll scatter bits and pieces throughout a story. Really inspiration, influence can be taken from anything if you’re paying enough attention.
What can we expect to see from you in the future?
In the future I hope to continue writing and releasing poetry. However, what I’m most excited about is my novels. Currently, I have 7 unfinished, fully formed, ideas with outlines. Someday I hope to bring these novels to light and publish them all. I also love songwriting and hope to eventually release some music as well!
